Sketching-trip to the southern french Lillet-lifestyle

Some of you may remember THE drink from last summer. Right. Lillet. I also couldn't get past it and was engaged at some wonderful summer events to draw the guests live. Their main accessory, which made their pose much more relaxed, was always a Lillet glass. Whether the relaxation was due to the content or to the fact that it is usually easier to pose with something in the hand, remains to be seen.
In the course of this "Lillet-Euphoria" I also got an assignment for an illustration in a cocktail magazine. I had to illustrate this very special "Lillet-world" for them. I had already tasted the summer drink myself by this time, and was looking forward to the challenge of capturing the lightness and allure of Podensac in the south of France, where the Lillet brothers founded their company Maison Lillet in 1872 and embarked on the art of aperitif making. As I have never been there myself, I worked with pictures.
The desired motifs were a great distraction, for which I worked with ink and watercolour, in order to edit them afterwards on the computer. Unfortunately the illustrations were not published. Nevertheless I enjoyed this work a lot because it showed me once again that drawing as a fashion illustrator is not limited to fashion as clothing. For me, fashion is rather a genre that contains much more than the obvious and can be applied to numerous areas of our being. So I am happy of getting the chance to draw something other than clothes every once in a while.
ZEICHENAUSFLUG ZUM SÜDFRANZÖSISCHEN LILLET-LIFESTYLE
Manch einer von euch erinnert sich vielleicht an DAS Getränk des letzten Sommers. Genau: Lillet. Auch ich bin nicht daran vorbeigekommen und war auf einigen wunderbaren Sommer-Events engagiert, um dort live die Gäste zu zeichnen. Ihr Hauptaccessoire, das sie wesentlich entspannter posieren ließ, war dabei stets ein Lilletglas. Ob die Entspanntheit nun dem Inhalt geschuldet war, oder der Tatsache, dass es sich mit etwas in der Hand meist leichter posieren lässt, sei dahingestellt.
Im Zuge dieser „Lillet-Euphorie“ bekam ich auch einen Auftrag für eine Illustration in einer Cocktail-Zeitschrift. Für sie sollte ich ebendiese besondere „Lillet-Welt“ illustrieren. Ich hatte den Sommerdrink zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits selbst probiert, und freute mich auf die Aufgabe, die Leichtigkeit und Allure des südfranzösischen Podensac, wo die Brüder Lillet 1872 ihr Unternehmen Maison Lillet gründeten und sich an die Kunst der Aperitif Herstellung machten, einzufangen. Da ich selbst noch nie dort gewesen bin, arbeitete ich mit Bildern.
Die gewünschten Motive waren eine tolle Abwechslung, für die ich mit Tusche und Aquarell arbeitete, um sie hinterher am Computer zu bearbeiten. Leider wurden die Illustrationen nicht veröffentlicht. Diese Arbeit hat mir dennoch viel Spaß gemacht und mir wieder einmal gezeigt, dass sich das Zeichnen als Modeillustratorin nicht auf Mode als Kleidung begrenzt. Für mich ist die Mode vielmehr ein Genre, das weitaus mehr beinhaltet, als das Offensichtliche und sich auf zahlreiche Bereiche unseres Seins übertragen lässt. So freue ich mich, wenn ich hin und wieder auch etwas anderes als Kleidung zeichnen darf.
