Drawing at the launch of PARADOXE by PRADA

There are moments in my work when I almost have to pinch myself when I realise that yes, I really am there, being part of that project or collaborating in that event.

This was the case recently during the launch of PARADOXE, the new PRADA perfume, where I was commissioned to draw the guests as quick fashion sketches.

The venue of this event was spectacular and perfectly matched PRADA's identity. The truth is that when I received the address where the event was going to take place I asked myself "Raketenstation? A missile station? I didn't know this fabulous place. If you don't know it, look for Raketenstation Insel Hombroich.

The building in which our event took place was the House for Musicians, designed by the Austrian architect Raimund Abraham. Spectacular. Like a spaceship standing in the middle of the countryside. Especially when we left it, already at night, illuminated in the colours of the house: pale pink and green.

Upstairs was the party and below, like a treasure in its crypt, was the perfume. The sensations. The bottle, the scent, and my place of work for that night. I sketched live some of the guests while others waited for their turn or just watched delighted. It obviously amazes and entertains people to see how a figure takes form on a white paper, from start to beginning. It happens to me when I watch other illustrators at work and I see it in the faces of the people invited to the PR events where I work. They report it looks calmed and hypnotizing, a big contrast to the quick battle that is going on inside me while I draw. Interesting.

Thank you, PRADA.
