Designing with a smile

As you may know I have drawn several motifs for the glass company Ritzenhoff. The last fruits of this cooperation are two prosecco glasses in their Pearls Edition: gold rose and aqua as a perfect match for the spring table. I saw the glasses for the first time during the last Ambiente fair trade and as I asked how exactly they are produced, how the motifs are applied to the glass, a generous answer came back: Come and visit us. And so I did. Last week I spent 24 delicious hours in the kind company of the Ritzenhoff people. I could admire their products in their beautiful showroom, I was astonished by the intricate process that involves making a glass, including delicated hand work, impressed by the numbers and the premises... All made in Germany in the middle of a bucolic landscape.

The best part was how they treated me and the familiar atmosphere: I had the chance to enjoy their generosity in their dream guest house that seems to have been taken from a Grimms' fairy tale, I enjoyed a fantastic dinner and we wrapped it with a nice breakfast prepared by a house keeper that is a sort of everybody's mother, including guests.

Ritzenhoff's slogan is "design for a smile" and after my visit, that was an absolute highlight in the lonely life of a freelancer, I think smile is in the core of the company's philosophy. I am really proud to be part of their story and looking forward to working on new Ritzenhoff products.
