a christmas story (board)

It is difficult to believe that in seven days we will be, again, celebrating Christmas. It is a fix date in the calendar but nevertheless it keeps coming out of the blue: right after the last summer days, oops! it’s Christmas again. It happens to me, to many of my friends and it also happens to some of my clients.

One of the loyal Christmas clients is the Spanish broadcaster Mediaset: they usually call at the end of November and commission me with the storyboard of their seasonal promo video, a sort of Christmas greeting for their audience. The team who produces it is really amazing: they create the story, cast the actors, chose the locations, construct the settings, set that whole machinery in motion, shoot the video, cut it, make the music, etc. etc. in a couple of days and create a piece of magical Christmas right in time.

My part comes at the beginning, right after they have created the story I have to visualize it creating the drawings that will serve them  as basis for their decisions: scenes, length, budget, people casting, camera angles, settings, general atmosphere and so on. Above these lines you can see the video and part of the storyboard.

It is always a very quick job but this time I had to work especially fast: 24 colored DIN A4 frames in 4 days. I love that kind of job: the communication with my client is great, everything moves quickly, both parts are fully into the job and there is no waiting time. Some intense days and the job is done, the drawings keep their journey to fulfill their purpose and I can go for the next project. Or relax, like I will do in the next days.

I wish you too the most relaxed days in the weeks to come, have a quiet, peaceful Christmas and enjoy it.
